Fr. Minh Tran SJ
Parish Priest

Our new parish priest, Fr Minh Van Tran, was born in Saigon, Viet Nam 5 months before the Cuban Missile Crisis. He has six brothers and seven sisters, most of them living in Viet Nam, except two of his younger brothers who are both living in United State of America.

Fr Minh left Viet Nam as a boat person in the year that John Lennon was assassinated by Mark Chapman. Made a simple mistake between Netherland and New Zealand, he settled in Dunedin, New Zealand with the Meech family.

He studied Engineering at Canterbury University, Christchurch, NZ. After graduation, he worked for six years with NZED. NEC, DSIR-NIWAR.

He left NZ to join the Jesuits in Australia in the year George W Bush became the first US President to address the Australian Parliament. He studied at Jesuit Theological College in Parkville.

After a decade of learning, he gained BT, G.Dip. Ed, MT, MA-SD and a was ordained a priest.
